Springfield Trapdoor Model 1890 Carbine, #189166*, .45-70 cal., 22'' barrel, arsenal blue finish, walnut stock, with cleaning rod in butt. This carbine features the front barrel band hump to protect the front sight when inserted into the carbine boot. Saddlering bar has been neatly removed. This particular carbine began life as a Model 1879 variant with 1873 dated breechblock and lockplate. Condition is excellent as arsenal modified, retaining approx. 98% arsenal charcoal blue. Uncartouched stock with two light fissure emanating from left side ring bar hardware. Action is good, bore is fine. Est.: $1,800-$2,400. (Antique)
